Dayo (the wanderer)is one thing we could be proud of..... well, its not like some average japanese animation (not even closer to that)but it is definitely a good one...
i got the synopsis somewhere and here goes:
DAYO is the first Filipino full-length animated movie featuring a combination of 2D and 3D technologies. It follows an 11-year old kid named Bubuy as he tries to save his beloved grandparents who have been abducted into Elementalia, a mysterious, mystical, and magical land abounding with strange flora and fauna and a host of popular creatures from Philippine mythology.
The first of these that Bubuy encounters is a manananggal named Anna, a hyperactive 12-year old with a special affection for all things human – but not of the tummy-filling kind. She is in fact averse to eating any type of meat. She brings Bubuy to Nunu, a kind, grandfatherly sage and one of Elementalia’s resident potion-makers, after the forest fire that Bubuy accidentally causes which led to the abduction of his grandparents.
Nunu tells Bubuy what he must do. Search for the special ingredients needed to make the magic potion that will reverse the spell that the abductors have placed upon his grandparents (turning them into trees). And he must complete the task and use the potion before the next full moon rises to its peak in the night sky or else he’ll lose his grandparents forever.
This task takes Bubuy and Anna on a wild, wondrous, will-testing, and wonderfully funny adventure all over Elementalia – from a massive falls teeming with gravity-defying merfolk, to an awe-inspiring crystal cave that houses a swarm of colorful alitubi, to a grand old tree that’s home to a motherly female kapre, and finally on to a majestic mountain guarded by a big pack of hungry, angry aswangs.
Along the way Bubuy and Anna meet other colorful characters and challenging obstacles -- a vain but friendly tikbalang named Narsi, a big nursery of tiyanaks, and a shape-shifting bruha.
The life-changing adventure transforms Bubuy from a timid, bullied kid into a strong, confident young man able to stand up for himself, to fight for his values, and to hold on with all his might to the things and, more importantly, the people dearest in his life.
Brimming with local color, character, and charm, and boasting spectacular vistas of never-before-seen fantastical lands, DAYO stands a shining example of Filipino filmmaking artistry and craftsmanship. More importantly it offers viewers – local and foreign alike – a warm, hearty peek into the Filipino mind, heart and soul.
